How Do You Clean Turf?

“What is the best way to clean my artificial turf?” We get this question all the time. While it’s true that it’s much easier to keep turf green and looking great compared to natural grass, your lawn’s natural appearance will still benefit from a couple easy cleaning measures. In short, If you can hose off a driveway once a week or so, you’ll have no problem cleaning your turf either.

Hose it Weekly, Rake it Monthly

For most homeowners, a weekly rinse will remove most accumulated dust or small debris trapped in your turf. For larger debris like leaves, rocks, mulch, or trash, we suggest using a non-metallic stiff bristle broom or rake to gently comb the turf. Not only does this keep your turf clean, it also helps maintain your turf’s upright appearance.

However, pet owners may want to consider upping this interval; moreover, they should focus more water on the areas of turf their pet usually handles their business on. Solid pet waste should be scooped and removed before watering, but the good news is that our pet infill will take care of breaking down odors and any residual pet waste for you.

Rain, Rain, Don’t Go Away

Remember that other factors can come into play as well.  Surrounding trees and shrubs, kids, and rain affect how often you’ll need to clean.  Fortunately, even the most intensive or time-consuming turf maintenance is far easier and cheaper than mowing your grass.  Give us a call today to learn more about turf maintenance, installation, and how we can make your lawn dreams a reality!
